Robert, king of Scots, has given to his beloved and faithful Hugh of Ross knight his whole burgh of Cromarty (ROS) and the annual rent owed to us from William Mowat (de Monte Alto) his sheriff of the same place, holding in feu and heritage, saving the custom called malatout (maltolte).
