Document 3/31/0 (Stevenson, Docs., ii, no. 615)

Description
Angus [Macdonald] of Islay writes to Sir Edward, king of England and lord of Ireland, noting that he was in the company of Sir Hugh Bisset and the king’s navy while it was in Bute, that is, up to Sunday before the feast of St Michael, and is there still, waiting for the king’s commands. He asks whether the king believes Alexander of Argyll is in his peace and protection, and if he should entrust the said Alexander to give aid and counsel to Sir Hugh Bisset and himself, Angus of Islay, and the king’s other men, and if he does not believe it, to send to them his counsel by letter. He also entreats on behalf of the sons of Ruairi, who are in his force, and who were against the king’s adversaries, if the king may wish to grant to them their native feu so that they may serve the king faithfully as they ought.
