Document 1/27/0 (Stevenson, Docs., ii, no. 383)
- Description
- Edward, king of England, lord of Ireland and duke of Aquitaine, writes to the sheriff of Ayr, noting that as he wishes that all the lands and tenements which John de Balliol, lately king of Scotland, held in demesne, and also the lands and tenements of the earls, barons and others in his prisons, and those who lately came to his peace, the said lands may remain in his hands until he directs otherwise. However, he instructs the sheriff to restore to Robert of Esteby, who came into his peace, and whose lands are in the king’s hand [held?] by John of Caen. Robert of Esteby having sworn fealty to the king all the lands and tenements now in the king’s bailliary and which the said John holds, should be restored and sasine be delivered to him.
