- Pope Honorius IV writes to the bishop of Durham and the prior of the Friars Preachers in England noting as contained in the petition of Margaret, relict of Alexander, eldest son of the king of Scotland, shown to him, that the same king wished and granted that if the said Margaret, survived his son, for her life she would be paid and would have yearly from the first day of August after the death of the said son, 1,300 marks from the revenues of the villa of Berwick in Scotland, then belonging to the said king, and also 200 marks from her manor of Linlithgow, as dowry or donation on account of her marriage. The said king prayed to the Roman pontiff for confirmation, according to letters patent sealed by the king and his son. Margaret, after the death of Alexander, then prayed that this would be confirmed by the apostolic see, which he now had made and confirmed. He thus commands the bishop and prior that the said Margaret not be molested with regards to this dowry.
