- John, bishop of Glasgow, makes known that in the controversy between him and the rectors of the churches of Annan, Lochmaben, Cummertrees, Gretna, Rainpatrick and Kirkpatrick, for one part, and the lords Ralph, the prior, and the convent of Guisborough, for the other, concerning the diminution of the portions belonging to the said rectors as ordained by his predecessors, the following was decided: All the garbal teinds of wheat belonging to the said churches and chapels are to be reserved for the canons’ own uses, following what was contained in the documents of his predecessors. Everything remaining belonging to the churches, with lands and teinds, shall fall to the uses of the rectors of those churches. The following shall be paid annually for sustenance and support: to the rector of the church of Annan, 40s., to the rector of the church of Lochmaben, 6 marks, that is, his expenses for having the chapel of Rockhall served by a suitable chaplain; to the rector of the church of Cummertrees, 12 skeppis of flour; to the rector of the church of Gretna, 12 skeppis of flour; to the rector of the church of Rainpatrick, 10 skeppis of flour; to the rector of the church of Kirkpatrick, 10 skeppis of Flour, that is, his expenses for the having the chapel of Logan served by a suitable chaplain. These will be paid half at Martinmas and half at Pentecost. Other terms are stipulated. The rectors of the churches of Annan and Lochmaben shall pay to the canons a sum of money as contained in the documents of his predecessors. This was granted and approved by the chapter of Glasgow, the said rectors and canons, in the bishop’s presence and with the seals of the chapter and priory attached.
