Description
Norman Darcy, castellan of Stirling, has received from Sir Patrick Graham, sheriff of Stirling, for his wages due to him from Trinity Sunday, namely, from 1 June, AD 1292, until the Monday after the feast of Saint Denis in the same year, counting the first but not the last day; that is, for 134 days, 134 marks sterling, taking 1 mark per day. In respect of this sum of money, the same Sir Patrick has withheld in his own hands by command of Sir Alexander Balliol, chamberlain of Scotland, until he shall have had another command, 34 marks sterling. As witness of this matter, Norman has delivered these open letters of quittance to the same Sir Patrick.
