W[illiam] and R[obert], bishops of St Andrews and Glasgow, Duncan, earl of Fife, Alexander Comyn, earl of Buchan, constable [and justiciar] of Scotia, John Comyn and James Stewart of Scotland, Guardians of the realm of Scotland by common council, write to Alexander de Balliol, [chamberlain of Scotland], commanding him to pay Alexander, son of the earl of Dunbar, knight, the arrears of his fee, that is, 10 marks sterling from the end of Pentecost 1286, and 10 marks from the end of St Martin the same year […] Pentecost, 1288, following what Alexander, son of Earl Patrick […] was accustomed to receive during the time of their late lord king.
