Description
William, bishop of St Andrews, Robert Bruce, earl of Carrick, and John Comyn, the son, Guardians of the realm of Scotland, in the name of lord John, king of Scotland, established by the same community of the said realm, write to lord Edward, king of England. They note that lord Philip, king of France, by his letters patent, has intimated to them that, at his bidding, Edward cease and desist from all hostilities against them and the realm of Scotland for a certain time. Lord John, duke of Brittany, messenger of the lord king of France, now in England, has asserted this to them by his letters patent. They shall also desist from aggressive hostilities against Edward and his realm. They further wish to note that they shall desist from interfering with hostilities between Kings Edward and Philip. They have appended their seal, transmitting these letters patent by the bearer, and signify that they wish Edward to reply to them through the same bearer.
