Document 1/51/10 (Douglas, iii, no. 10)

Description
John, king of Scotland, writes to Geoffrey de Mowbray, justiciar of Lothian, his sworn man, noting that he has learned by a complaint of the abbot and convent of Melrose before William, bishop of St Andrews, Robert, bishop of Glasgow, John Comyn, James, steward of Scotland, and Brian fitz Alan, then guardians of the realm, that they have been restored the sasine of a certain common way within the valley of Douglas versus William of Douglas, knight, who had impeded and troubled the said monks of this common way, which they were accustomed to hold for time remembered, by stated marches, of which the said William of Douglas had disseised them. King John thus commands that sasine of the said way be delivered to the monks.
