- Description
- John, king of Scotland, writes to J[ohn], archbishop of York, complaining that, since by the death of H[enry], then bishop of Whithorn, the church thereof being destitute, John, prior of Whithorn and the convent of the same elected Thomas of Kirkcudbright, clerk, not by his inspiration or charitable life, but by certain compromises and simonic conduct of other persons. He asks the archbishop not to admit Thomas, now made bishop-elect, until the election can be examined. He has appointed Masters Walter of Fotheringhay and Thomas of Easthall, his clerks, to undertake this.
