Description
Pope Nicholas [IV] addresses the abbot and convent of Newbattle and states that he was presented with their petition stating that Alexander [III], king of Scotland, for his own salvation, thinking and desiring for the heavens and the transitory, conveyed a certain land called Eastercrag to them and their monastery, as is contained in their letters patent. The pope, by apostolic authority, establishes and strengthens the donation by the present charter.
