Description
Simon Fraser, the knight, son and heir, of the late Sir Simon Fraser, for the salvation of his soul, and for the salvation of the souls of all his ancestors and successors, has granted and by this his present charter established to Melrose Abbey that donation which Sir Simon Fraser, his late father, made to the monks of the whole land of South Kingledores (PEB), along with the church of St Cuthbert of Kingledores, on the southern part of the river of Kingledores (Kingledores Burn). And similarly of all the land of Hopecarton (PEB) , with all the pertinents, rights, freedoms, and easements, belonging to the lands and chapels, without any reservation, to be held and had in free, quit, pure and perpetual alms, just as the charter of Sir Simon Fraser, his late father, fully testifies and purports. Additionally, Simon Fraser newly gives and grants, for him and his heirs, free entrance and exit with all their animals and men coming graze between Hesilyard and Haldeyharsted , just as they allow him in their lands, to be held and had by the monks just as is fully contained in his charter which he has from Sir Laurence Fraser, late lord of Drumelzier. Simon promises warrandice.
