- Description
- On 4 June [1296] at [Roxburgh], in the presence of the witnesses [Walter de Beauchamp, John Tregotz, John Merk, and Thomas of Bicknor, knights], with many others, and in the presence of the Notary; the lord Thomas de Somerville, knight, of his own accord and free will, attaining the trust and goodwill of the king of England, expressly rencounced the alliances, contracts, agreements, and pacts made with the lord Philip, king of the French, against his lord, the king of England, in his own name or that of his heirs; having touched and kissed the most holy gospels, he performed fealty to his lord the king of England, and drew up letters patent in his own name and set his seal to them.
