Description
William de Morville, constable of the king of Scots, has granted and made firm by this his charter to William of Hartside the whole land that Heden and Hemming held in Hartside, that is, on the east side of the road from Wedale (Stow) to Dere Street, to be held and had by him and his heirs of the hospital of the Holy Trinity of Soutra and the brethren serving God there, in feu and heritage, as freely, quietly, fully, wholly and honourably as the charter of the proctor of Soutra and the brethren of the same place to the same William of Hartside bears witness and confirms, saving William de Morville's service.
