Description
Ranulf de Soules, butler of the king of Scots, has given, and by this his charter established to Jedburgh Abbey, for the soul of King David, and the souls of others, the church of ‘Dodintona’ (Great Doddington, Northants.) as Walkelin the chaplain held it, with all its pertinents, and a half ploughgate of land next to the church of Nisbet (ROX), and the teinds of the mill and the fishing, and the church of St Martin of Liddesdale (i.e., Castleton, ROX), with one measured ploughgate of land, by stated bounds, and with all its other pertinents as Osbert the chaplain held it, for the service of Jedburgh Abbey for the wine for masses and the remainder for the brothers, in perpetual alms.
