Description
William de Muhaut, knight, lord of Fern, has given, granted and by this his present charter established, to his beloved and faithful brother Sir Bernard de Muhaut, knight, for his considerable service to William, all his land of Easter Fowlis (in Leochel parish, ABD) in the earldom of Mar within the sheriffdom of Aberdeen, in feu and heritage, with all liberties and easements and just pertinents, named and unnamed, as freely as he holds it of his lord the earl of Mar, rendering annually 12d. at Easter Fowlis (ABD) on Martinmas for all exactions, customs, demands or other earthly services.

Dating Notes
The witnesses to this document, Sirs Reginald le Chene, Andrew of Garioch, Richard of Balwearie, Thomas of Rattray, William of Lothian (Laudonia) and William of ‘Rochnach’, knights, may date to the thirteenth century. Note that an Andrew of Garioch (probably of the Leslie family) was sheriff of Aberdeen in the 1260s. It is uncertain whether Reginald le Chene is the father or son of that name. Sir Richard of Balwearie fl. in the mid-13th century.
