Document 3/532/1 (Dunf. Reg., no. 177)

Description
Alexander of Seton has given and granted and by this his present charter established to Adam of Polwarth with Emma his sister in marriage, all his land of Beath Fleming (FIF), with its right bounds. He has given and granted this to Adam and Emma his sister and their boys conceived between them. And to whichever of their boys they wish to assign the land, they will hold the land of Alexander in pure and perpetual alms, rendering annually to him 12s., 6s. at the feast of St Michael, and 6s. at Easter. Moreover, they will have all merchets and all forfeitures except those pertaining to the royal crown. He wills that Adam and Emma should hold the land as freely and quietly as he holds it of the lord abbot of Dunfermline.
