Description
Walter son of Alan, steward of the King of Scotland, has founded a house of canons and nuns of the Order of Sempringham at the place in the land of 'Mernes' called Dalmilling upon Ayr. He has granted, given, and made firm by this his charter to the convent according to the constitution of their order the whole land of Mernes with everything contained within these marches (etc.), moreover, free and full commons in the peatary of Prestwick (AYR) and half of all his fisheries between the castle of Ayr and the villa of Irvine (AYR), namely, half of the fisheris of 'Wohar', 'Spetelcrag', 'Selecrag' and Irvine, and the mill of Prestwick with its profits and all its pertinents, and the toft of Edok in the new villa on the Ayr, which lies between the toft of Matilda 'Gesting' and the toft of Walter son of the said Edok, with the free service of the said Edok
