- Description
- Walter son of Alan, steward of the king of Scotland, for the souls of King David and King Henry (I of England), and of Earl Henry, and of others, and for the welfare of the body and soul of King Malcolm (IV) and of himself, will constitute a religious house within his land of Paisley (RNF), according to the order of the brothers of Wenlock, that is, according to the order of the monks of Cluny, with the common consent and assent of the prior and convent of Wenlock. The house will have 13 brothers and a prior, who will be chosen by Walter and his council from those 13. [etc.] For these liberties, he will give the house of Wenlock in perpetual alms a full messuage in his burgh of Renfrew and fishing nets for taking salmon from his own rivers, and six fishing nets for taking herring, and one boat.
