Description
Michael son of Matthew gave, granted and quitclaimed and by this present writing established to Holm Cultram Abbey in free, pure and perpetual alms, that toft with its pertinents in the villa of Dumfries which Henry the locksmith formerly held from his father and from him at ferme, with all its bounds and pertinents, which Henry was accustomed to hold, free and quit from all service, custom, suit of pleas, exaction and demand, except 2 ½ d. which the said monks of their attorneys owe annually to the lord king for ‘husgavel’. He warrants the said toft, which R. the Fleming held from him at ferme.
