Description
Herbert Maxwell, knight, and his heirs are bound and obliged to provide a chaplain to celebrate mass in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the church of Mearns, according to the terms of a letter drawn up by him in the possession of the abbot and convent of Paisley. If he or his heirs should set themselves against his arrangement contained in the said letter, he wishes to be bound to the abbot and convent for 10 marks as compensation, to be put to the use of the monastery of Paisley, for each fault against his said arrangement.
