Description
John de Montfort, lord of Athelstaneford, has given, granted, and by this his present charter established to Newbattle Abbey a half stone of wax annually in pure and perpetual alms, which he and his heirs will offer on the altar of the blessed Mary at the church of Newbattle every year on the day of the Nativity of St John the Baptist (24 June).
