- Description
- Ralph Maule, lord of ‘Louchogov’ has given, granted and by this his present charter established to Newbattle Abbey a certain piece of his land in the territory of ‘Louchogov’ (MLO or PEB), by stated bounds, in pure and perpetual alms, and quit from all exaction and secular demand. Moreover, he gives and grants the monks, and by this his present charter establishes, free common [pasture] for their draught animals in his pasture on the western side of the aforementioned land, near the Water of Peebles [i.e., the Eddleston Water], by stated bounds.
