Description
James, steward of Scotland, for the salvation of his soul and the salvation of all his ancestors and successors, and especially for the salvation of the souls of his father, Sir Alexander, and Lady Joan, his mother, has given, granted and by his present charter established and also remitted and quitclaimed to Melrose Abbey those ten shillings which the monks were accustomed to render annually for that land with [its] pertinents which they held in the barony of Innerwick (ELO).
