Description
Nicholas of Graham the knight, first-born of Sir Henry of Graham, for the salvation of his lord, Sir Alexander, the illustrious king of Scotland, and for the salvation of himself and for the salvation of Mary, his spouse, and for the souls of all their ancestors and successors, has given, granted and by this his present charter established to Melrose Abbey that donation which William of Alwinton made to the monks of Melrose of his whole land which he held in the villa and territory of Hassington (BWK) and which William of Alwinton held from the gift of Sir Robert de Muschamp, namely that land which is in the north by the castle and remnant of the land towards the west in the same villa and in the west above the head of ‘Dedryg’ with the toft and croft which belonged to the late Robert son of Edolph and those two oxgangs of land in the same villa which belonged at some time to Norman and three acres of land in ‘Magna Kinelsydde’ which Sir Robert de Muschamp gave to William of Alwinton in exchange for the toft and croft which pertain to the two bovates of land [that] William of Alwinton resigned to the Robert de Muschamp.
