Description
Walter son of Alan, steward of the king of Scotland, has granted and also given and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, in perpetual alms, quit and free from all custom and secular service, for the soul of Kings David and Malcolm and for the salvation of their successors and for the salvation of his soul and his ancestors, one toft near the River Tweed in Berwick (BWK) with 20 acres in the field of Berwick which King Malcolm, his lord, gave to him.
