Description
Alwin son of Duncan of Foffarty has given, granted and by this his charter established, to Malbride ‘Marrenah’ that land that was in litigation between him and Sir Laurence son of Orm (of Abernethy) by its right bounds, stated herein (in ANG), free and quit from all service, custom, exaction, forinsec and any kind of aid. Malbride will have common pasture and his free multure wherever he wishes, and he will have merchet and blodwite and unlaw, freely, as much as pertains to that land, for an annual render of 8s., half at Pentecost and half at Martinmas.

Dating Notes
The charter refers to a dispute between Laurence son of Orm (of Abernethy), who was lord of Inverarity, and Alwin son of Duncan of Foffarty. Waltheof son of Merleswain, Duncan son of Adam (of Kilconquhar) and Thomas of Lundin, all south Fife figures, witness various other documents in the first quarter of the thirteenth century.
