Notes
The Bannatyne Club edition of the Newbattle Registrum places this series of charters in a section on the county of Edinburgh. Black suggests that ‘Lochogov’ may have been Portmore Loch in Peebles-shire, and other evidence suggests that the family were based in the parish of Eddleston, and that the progenitor Edulf gave his name to the town of that name. Note the place-names Loch Burn, West Loch, East Loch, and Loch Hill around Portmore Loch.
