- Description
- An agreement was formed between the abbot and convent of Kelso and Thomas Batail, burgess of Berwick, whereby the abbot and convent demitted the whole ploughgate of land with buildings and a croft which they held in the tenement of Bondington (BWK) from the gift of David, king of Scots, to hold for 20 years, rendering annually 3 marks, that is, 20s. at Martinmas and 20s. at Pentecost, beginning on the feast of St Martin, 1267. He shall improve and support the houses and buildings and at the end of the lease restore them to the abbey. The abbot and convent warrant the lands.
