Walter son of Robert of Shotton has granted and by this his charter established to Kelso Abbey, in free and perpetual alms, the donation which Robert, his father made to them, namely that land in territory of Shotton (Northumberland), by stated bounds, for their uses. Additionally, he granted and by this charter established to them, in free and perpetual alms, the common easements of the villa of Shotton and sufficient pasture for 400 sheep and 40 cows with specified liberties and restrictions. Additionally, he granted to them and by the present charter established, in free and perpetual alms, Colpinhope by its correct bounds, just as Walter Corbet, his lord conveyed to them and by his charter established, by stated bounds, and they can frequent his mill for the produce of the aforesaid land. He granted this gift to them for the salvation of his lord, Walter Corbet, and his wife, and all their ancestors and successors, free and quit from all service, custom and exaction, and from inware and utware, in free and perpetual alms. Additionally, he granted to them and by this his charter established the right to grind all grain which they may have grown or had in the territory of the town of Shotton and Colpenhope in his mill of Shotton without any multure, and they may have immediate use of the mill unless his grain may be there. The abbot and monks will give to him and his heirs every year for this liberty and their multure, half silver merk, half at Pentecost and half at the feast of Saint Martin, and they will be quit from all work at the mill and pool, etc. He gave himself to the church of Kelso in his death.
