Description
Richard Ridel has given, granted and perpetually quitclaimed to Kelso Abbey the multure of the land of Preston (ELO), save the multure of one ploughgate of land which the men of the Kelso Abbey held at ferme for a time from Master Adam of Makerstoun, vicar of Cranston, which he and his ancestors had been accustomed to receive, without any service, custom, exaction, and demand. Kelso may grind their grain at Richard’s mill of Cranston or elsewhere if they prefer except the grain derived from the aforesaid ploughgate.
