- William, bishop of Glasgow makes known that since, in the time of Sir Walter, bishop, his antecessor, an ordination was made between the church of Glasgow and the monastery of Paisley concerning procurations which the bishop ought to have from certain churches, that is, the churches of Old Kilpatrick (DNB), Rosneath (DNB), Inverkip (RNF), Kilmacolm (RNF), Killellan (RNF), Houston (RNF), Kilbarchan (RNF), Neilston (RNF), Pollok (LAN), Mearns (RNF), Rutherglen (LAN), Cathcart (LAN), Carmunnock (LAN), Prestwick ‘of the monks’ (Monkton, AYR), Prestwick of the burgh (AYR), Craigie (AYR) and Turnberry (AYR). It was ordained that the profits of the church of Erskine, which belonged to the monks, has fallen to the uses of the bishop. It was agreed, with the assent of the chapter of Glasgow, that all the said churches shall be immune and exempt from procurations pertaining to the bishop and the bishops shall visit the said churches of their own expense by the profits of the church of Erskine and a rent of 20 [marks] annually, which the abbey shall assign to him, paid by the hand of the vicar of Kilpatrick, beginning 1240, on the feast of St John, under penalty of one mark. The said Abbot and convent shall provide two lodgings in Strathgryf and Lennox at those churches provided that the bishop provide 4 marks for whichever lodging.
