- Brother James, penitentiary of the lord pope and papal chaplain, notifies that in the lawsuit called before him between the nuns of South Berwick, for one part, and the abbot and canons of Dryburgh and William de Vaux for the other, concerning the church of Gullane (ELO), which the said nuns claim to belong to their church by right, the canons and William asserting the contrary, it was agreed that the nuns may have in peace and quiet all that which they held at the time the agreement was made and except all the garbal teinds of Kingston which they may pay and have after the death of William de Vaux, persona of the church of Gullane. With the consent and authority of the convent, the master and prioress have renounced and resigned all direct and useful right which they had or claimed to have in the church or towards the said church. James, by his legatine authority, directs that the composition be established.
