Description
Maeldomnaich, earl of Lennox, has given, granted, and by this his present charter has established, for the salvation of the soul of King Alexander (II), and for the soul of Elizabeth his spouse, to Paisley Abbey, in pure, free and perpetual alms, that whole land of Duntocher (DNB) and the whole land of Duntiglennan (DNB) with all their rightful pertinents and their right bounds, as fully as Ralph, the chaplain of the lord king of Scotland held them; saving the holding of the aforesaid Ralph, chaplain of the lord king, in his lifetime; for as long as he lives, he should render to the monks of Paisley three marks of silver and one chalder of meal and one chalder of malt, which have customarily come from those lands. He also has given up his body to the said monastic house, and has chosen to be buried there; and he wills that after his death, the payment for his and his wife’s anniversary masses should come from the rents of the aforesaid lands.
