- Baldred, official of the lord [bishop] of St Andrews, writes to the dean of Christianity of Fife and Fothrif, noting that Gilbert, lord of Fargie, patron of the church of Arngask (PER), conferred and granted the right of patronage of that church to Cambuskenneth Abbey, with a portion of land which belonged to the dewar (‘Ledereth’), lying near the house which is now the priest’s, between that house and the church, in free, pure and perpetual alms, and that Sir William, bishop of St Andrews, their lord, established the said grant by his authority, and Sir Ralph of ‘Synmerdisburn’, rector of the said church, granted it to Cambuskenneth Abbey, after his resignation or death, for their own uses. Sir Ralph, at that time rector of the church of Arngask, ceded all manner of rights he had in that church, in the presence of Baldred, which resignation he has permitted. Baldred thus commands the dean to summon two or three chaplains nearby, and on the following Wednesday or Thursday, to visit the church of Arngask and oversee the institution of the church in corporal possession to Cambuskenneth Abbey.
