Description
David, king of Scots, to his justiciar of Lothian and his other officers and faithful men: because he has granted to his beloved chaplains and religious men the abbot and convent of the monastery of Melrose all lands in the monastery precinct in free regality, as his charter fully attests, wishing that they should enjoy it freely and peacably, firmly commands and prohibits them from interfering or disturbing the monks.
