Description
David, king of Scots, to his officers, declaring that it is not his intent for anyone to take away cains or collections (censibus) from the lands or renders of the church or of ecclesiastical persons given by himself, his predecessors the kings of Scots, or from anyone in his kingdom, wills that no prejudice should be made against God, the church, and ecclesiastical persons in future on the lands, renders, cains, and annual collections, as well as all the retroactive arrears from whichever dates. He commands that payment should be compelled to Arbroath abbey or their attorneys regarding lands from which such renders are owed, whether of the king's lands or those of other lords and tenants.
