Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 47-49: Gelasius was born in Rome of African descent and was an archdeacon under Felix III. His pontificate runs from 1 March 492 until his death on 21 November 496. He is buried at St Peter’s and his feast day is 21 November.
