Eustace Balliol, sheriff of Cumberland (d.1274)

Biography
Eustace, a younger brother of John Balliol (d.1268) married Hawise, daughter of Ranulph of Kirklinton and Ada de Moreville. He should not be confused with Eustace de Balliol (of Tours), uncle of John Balliol (d.1268). He was appointed as sheriff of Cumberland and keeper of Carlisle Castle in October 1261 (CPR, 1258-66, 179), until 1265. A. Beam, The Balliol Dynasty, 1210-1364 (Edinburgh, 2008)
