Robert de Prebenda, bishop of Dunblane (d.1284)

Biography
Watt and Murray, Fasti, 100, 105: Robert was dean of Dunblane by probably 23 June 1255, having succeeded perhaps in March of that year. He occurs again on 30 September 1257. He was elected bishop of Dunblane 19 March 1258×2 January 1259. Robert was consecrated on 22 August 1259 × 1 September 1260. He occurs again on 11 September 1283 and was probably still alive on 5 February 1284. Watt, Graduates, 456-7: Robert was son of Geoffrey de Rotyngdon, an Englishman. He was already a master when he is found in Scotland, in the service of Alexander III on 11 February 1255 and obtained the deanery of Dunblane soon afterward. He went to the papal court at Anagni following his appointment and by 29 August 1256, he had become a papal chaplain. By 2 January 1259, he had returned to Scotland and had been elected bishop of Dunblane, returning to the curia until he is found in England on his return to Scotland on 1 September 1260. His successor was appointed on 18 December 1284, so his death must have taken place 11 September 1283×18 December 1284.
