Henry III, king of England (d.1272)

Biography
Henry of Winchester was the eldest of five children born to King John of England (d.1216) and his second wife, Isabella of Angoulême (d.1246). He was born on 1 October 1207 and became king upon his father's death on 19 October 1216. Henry had one brother, Richard, earl of Cornwall and king of Germany (d.1272), and three sisters: Isabella (d.1241), wife of Emperor Frederick II; Joan (d.1238), wife of Alexander II of England; Eleanor, countess of Pembroke and Leicester (d.1275), wife of William (II) Marshal, earl of Pembroke (d.1231), and then Simon de Montfort, earl of Leicester (d.1265). Henry married Eleanor (d.1291), daughter of Raymond Berengar, count of Provence, on 20 January 1236. Their children were: Edward (d.1307), king of England, who married Eleanor of Castile (d.1290); Margaret (d.1275), wife of Alexander III of Scots (d.1286); Edmund Crouchback, earl of Lancaster and Leicester (d.1296), who married Avelina de Forz, first, and Blanche of Artois (d.1302), second, daughter of Robert (I), count of Artois (d.1250), widow of Henri, king of Navarre (d.1274); Beatrice, wife of Jean, son of the duke of Brittany; and Katherine (d.1257). Henry died at Westminster on 16 November 1272 and was buried in Westminster Abbey, though his heart was removed to Fontevrault. http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/12950
