Second seal, used from c.1200, of Gilbert, earl of Strathearn (d.1223). This single-sided seal (not ‘obverse’, as per Stevenson and Wood) is similar to his first, with the figures slightly smaller, the sword more erect, the shield plain, larger points on the saddle cloth, an indistinct bridle, and the horse with smaller legs and a drooping tail.
