Title/occupation: chaplain (bishop's)

Title type
chaplain (bishop's)
From Source
2/7/36 (SEA, i, no. 96)
Firm date
1175 X 1185
Dating Notes
Consecration of Bishop Jocelin × successor of Richard, dean of Teviotdale (see SEA, no. 92); the presence of Richard monk and chaplain suggests a date early in the episcopate. His only other appearance is in no. 84 above which can be dated 1175 × 1178. It may be that he came to Glasgow with Jocelin from Melrose and that he was not expected to remain out of the monastery for long.
