... with all the liberties of a burgh, etc.; he forbids anyone within the sheriffdom of Lanark to purchase wool or hide, or to carry on any commerce, or to make broadcloth, either dyed or cut, except the burgesses of Lanark; no merchant in the sheriffdom or burgh of Lanark may purchase any merchandise unless from the burgesses of Lanark; all inhabitants of the burgh of Lanark and its burgesses should contribute to the king's aid; anyone bringing in wood or incremium (tree trunks?) for the maintenance of the burgh should have the king's firm peace.
